How to Play

Every day, Journeyman picks one mystery footballer — the same player for everyone, everywhere. Your only clue is their career path: the clubs they played for, revealed one transfer at a time, starting from their first senior club.

The rules

You get six guesses. Every wrong guess — or skip — reveals the next club in the mystery player's career. The locked cards show you how long the career is before you see it, and that's a clue in itself: a one-club legend and a suitcase-living journeyman look very different from the start.

Type a player's name and pick them from the suggestions to guess. Solve it in fewer reveals for a better score.

Reading the hints

Wrong guesses aren't wasted. Each one comes back with three hints comparing your guess to the mystery player:

🟩 Nationality — green means your guess shares the answer's nationality.
🟩 Position — green means same position (goalkeeper, defender, midfielder, or attacker).
🟩🟨 Birth year — green means within two years of the answer, yellow within five. The arrow points the way: ↑ the answer is older, ↓ younger.

Two puzzles every day

The Daily features the big names — players most football fans will know. ⚡ Hard is a second, completely different puzzle with a deeper-cut player for those who know their football beyond the headlines. Same rules, trickier careers. Switch between them with the tabs at the top and play both every day.

Streaks

Win at least one of the day's puzzles to keep your 🔥 streak alive. Miss a day entirely — or lose both — and it resets to zero. Like form: brutal, but fair.

Strategy tips

Early clubs are the hardest clues — plenty of stars started somewhere obscure. If the first stop stumps you, an early guess buys information: even a miss narrows down nationality, position, and age. Loan moves (marked) are a strong signal of a career's shape, and the number of locked cards tells you whether you're hunting a one-club icon or a serial mover. When a career suddenly jumps leagues or countries, ask yourself: who actually makes that move?
